What you see is what you get and what you get sounds good! The Lightvessel welcomes Ruben Seoane on board, a (truly) iconic figurehead of Barcelona’s bubbling techno scene. His first mix „Hypnotic Rhythms & Harsh Soundscapes“ is essentially the depiction of what makes Ruben’s DJ craft unique: a showcase of his curatorial skills for which he achieved legendary status. In stark contrast to many performances nowadays, his sets are rituals grounded on many years of experience and a substantial body of knowledge he gained both as a resident of Barcelona’s institution Moog Club and as a vinyl nerd and shopman.
At times challenging in their versatility, Ruben’s sets tie the dancers through a captivating hypnosis. But while never giving in to any attention-grabbing fashion baits he understands how to break up the most sinister mood with dark wave goodies like The Frozen Autumn blending it back into Rhythmic Noise and layering Recall IV’s oldschool techno anthems. All this happens within only a few minutes of the mix. And yet everything is so glued together so that the flow never gets lost, these happy moments of both surprise and goosebumps are entertaining - in a pure musical sense.
